Mitch’s Kids

a program that tracks each child’s progress in Language Arts and Math. The children work on homework and supplemental assignments given by the certified staff members. Children will also learn about a variety of careers. This program has proven to help our children’s scores at school in both Language Arts and Math.

Triple Play

BGCA’s first comprehensive health and wellness program, developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, strives to improve the overall health of Club members, ages 6 – 18, by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition, and helping them develop healthy relationships.

Keystone Club

this unique leadership development experience provides opportunities for young people ages 14 – 18. Youth participate, both in and out of the Club, in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation, and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Clubs aim to have a positive impact of members, the Club, and community.

Junior Leaders

this program is very similar to our Keystone Club but geared towards our younger members. Children are able to learn at an early age how important academic success, community service, and being a good citizen are to build strong character!

the program uses a team approach involving Club staff, peer leaders, parents, and community representatives. More than simply emphasizing a “Say No” message, the program teaches young people, ages 6 – 15, how to say no by involving them in discussion and role-playing, practicing resistance and refusal skills, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision-making skills and analyzing media and peer influence. The ultimate goal: to promote abstinence from substance abuse and adolescent sexual involvement through the practice of responsible behavior.

Personal Hygiene

the young teens at the Club are taught the importance of keeping up with their personal hygiene. There is a laundry room used to teach the boys and girls and even use. Club Image (10th St. site), our hair & nail salon, is also used for the kids to keep up with their appearance.

Arts & Crafts

staff members work hard to come up with fun, rewarding activities for the children every day. Painting pumpkins, decorating cookies, learning about Martin Luther King Jr. through hands-on activities, weaving baskets, and painting pictures are only a few of the many crafts we offer.
